"Brot für die Welt" ("Bread for the World") supports more than 1,000 projects all over the world. Here is a small cross-section of the projects we promote. They will give you an idea of the sort of projects to which we allocate our funds and how donations are helping the people concerned.

South Africa: Affordable treatment for people living with HIV
There are more than 5,000,000 people in South Africa infected with HIV, one of the highest rates in the world. Every day around 900 people die of Aids. The South African government has tried to play down the problem for years, but now, thanks to "Brot für die Welt” partner TAC, people are beginning to take action.

India: The thirst for life
In summer small farmers in Central India suffer immensely from the appalling effects of drought. Temperatures rise to as high as 47 degrees Celsius, the earth dries up, plants wither and a huge number of people suffer from deficiency illnesses. "Brot für die Welt" partner Chetana Vikas helps to fight droughts.

Brazil: Aiming at health
Deep in the Amazon jungle live the Kulina, one of around 100 indigenous tribes in Brazil. One of the central aims of the Indian Mission Council of the evangelical Lutheran church in Brazil is to improve medical care without completely displacing traditional healing methods.
